Stiefel Laboratories appoints vice chairman

Stiefel Laboratories has announced the appointment of Richard J MacKay as vice chairman of the board of directors. Mr MacKay will retain his position as president of Stiefel Canada and be involved in the company’s relationship with its industry partners and dermatologists in Canada.

As vice chairman of the board, Mr MacKay will be responsible for assessing the key issues affecting the company worldwide and will help the board and chief executive officer in its relationships and most important projects.

Mr MacKay has been associated with the company for over 40 years and has also been a member of the Canadian Dermatology Foundation for 20 years.

Charlie Stiefel, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Stiefel Laboratories, commented that Mr MacKay had been untiring in his contribution to the growth and development of the firm.

“He has demonstrated his talent for global vision and shown exemplary leadership in a number of international executive positions,” he said.

He added that Mr MacKay was one of the “key leaders” in the history of Stiefel Laboratories.

Last month, Stiefel Laboratories announced that it had completed the acquisition of California based Connetics, creating one of the largest product pipelines in dermatology worldwide.
