Stiefel Laboratories reinforces role of research and development
Stiefel Laboratories has announced structural changes with the aim of reinforcing the vital role played by the research and development organisation within the firm and strengthening the unity between its research and development departments.
With the appointment of Gavin Corcoran to the newly-created position of chief scientific officer of the firm, the company is also seeking to further strengthen the partnership between its five global research and development facilities.
In his role, Dr Corcoran will oversee global operational and scientific activities connected to product support and development, scientific and medical affairs, pre-clinical and clinical research, portfolio planning, regulatory affairs and pharmacovigilance.
Brent Stiefel, executive vice-president of global corporate development and product portfolio at the firm, said: “We chose Gavin to lead our research and development division because his vast experience along with his keen understanding of the industry arms him with the insight that will improve today”s skin treatments and develop tomorrow’s solutions.”
He added that his promotion to the role of chief scientific officer is a testament to the work Dr Corcoran has done for the firm since joining the company.
Last month, Wayne Wilson was promoted to vice-president of US sales at the company while Michael DiFiore was appointed to executive director of managed markets.
