Stryker agrees takeover of medical technology firm Vexim
Stryker has announced the acquisition of Vexim, a French medical device company headquartered in Balma.
The deal prices Vexim at an aggregate equity value of approximately 183 million euros (161.51 million pounds), which corresponds to an enterprise value of approximately 162 million euros.
Vexim specialises in the development and sale of vertebral compression fracture (VCF) solutions, including its flagship offering SpineJack, a mechanical expandable VCF implant for fracture reduction and stabilisation.
The firm generated a sales total of 18.5 million euros in 2016, which represented a 33 percent increase compared to 2015. Vexim and its assets will become part of Stryker when the deal closes in the final quarter of the year.
Stryker believes that Vexim's portfolio will be highly complementary to its interventional spine business, which sells an extensive and innovative portfolio of vertebral augmentation, vertebroplasty and radiofrequency ablation solutions, along with diagnostic tools and decompression treatment advances for contained disc herniations.
