Stryker announces executive leadership changes

Stryker has announced a number of changes to its executive leadership personnel and structure that are designed to help promote growth.

The firm has appointed David Floyd to the role of group president for orthopaedics, effective as of November 15th 2012, while he will also take charge of its spine division on January 1st 2013.

Mr Floyd has around 25 years of medical technology and orthopaedics industry experience, having held senior-level leadership roles at DePuy, Abbott, AxioMed, Centerpulse Orthopaedics and OrthoWorx.

Additionally, Stryker will be handing MedSurg president Timothy Scannell additional responsibilities as head of its neurotechnology businesses at the start of next year.

Kevin Lobo, president and chief executive officer of Stryker, said: "This realignment will best leverage our leadership talent to drive growth in our reconstructive, MedSurg and neurotechnology and spine segments."

This comes after the firm completed its acquisition of Surpass Medical earlier this month, thus expanding its range of offerings for the neurovascular market.
