Stryker appoints new international group president
Stryker has announced the appointment of Ramesh Subrahmanian as the new group president of its international operations.
Mr Subrahmanian is a pharmaceutical industry veteran and served most recently as senior vice-president and president for Asia Pacific at Merck Sharpe and Dohme, while previous employers also include Sanofi and Hoechst Marion Roussel.
He has been hired as the successor to Andrew Fox-Smith, who is departing the medical technology company to pursue new career opportunities.
In his new role, Mr Subrahmanian will report directly to Stryker's chairman, president and chief executive officer Stephen MacMillan and will have responsibility for international business units.
Mr MacMillan said: "He is a proven healthcare leader who has demonstrated the ability to drive profitable growth and innovation and we look forward to taking advantage of his varied experiences."
Last month, the company reported its financial results for the second quarter of 2011, a period marked by double-digit year-on-year net sales growth.
