Synergy Health calls for more effective use of NHS funds
Synergy Health has called on the government to utilise NHS funding more effectively by purchasing more cost-effective product offerings.
The company has welcomed a new National Audit Office report showing that NHS hospitals are wasting 500 million pounds a year through inefficient buying policies for basic supplies.
Malcolm Sayers, business development manager for Synergy Health, noted that trusts could unlock millions of pounds worth of saving by switching from expensive branded products to lower-profile equivalents.
He highlighted the example of tubular bandages, an area in which the NHS could reduce its outgoings by around 40 percent by switching to offerings such as Synergy's Comfifast.
"That's potentially millions of pounds worth of savings on a single basic product line that can be diverted to support front-line services and avoid job cuts," explained Mr Sayers.
Earlier this month, Synergy Health was presented with the Greater China Rising Star Award at the Greater China Achievement in International Trade Awards, honouring its work in forging business links between the UK and Asia.
