Synergy Healthcare to create new UK sterile service centres
Synergy Healthcare is creating new sterile service supercentres in Leicester and Sheffield to help it provide decontamination support to two NHS trusts.
The medical technology firm has recently been awarded two 15-year contracts with the Leicester and Sheffield NHS trusts, offering services for a number of hospitals across the two regions.
As a result, the company has chosen to construct the new centres in the two cities, where they will be able to process more than 20 million instruments annually and transport them easily to the nearby hospitals.
Synergy states that it has "analysed the expected activity and will create facilities that ensure optimum workflows, which enable the units to process the instruments according to the required turnaround standards".
It expects that each facility will take 11 months to build and will be able to operate the sites from 2011.
Earlier this year, the company reported that it has also successfully commenced a decontamination services partnership with the St Helens and Knowsley NHS Teaching Hospitals Trust.
