Systagenix appoints new board members

Systagenix has announced the appointment of two new members of its board of directors, as it seeks to leverage top industry expertise to assist its growth efforts.

Oern Sturge, the current owner and chief executive officer (CEO) of Orsco Life Sciences, has taken up a position on the board, as has RevDia CEO Jack Wilkens.

Both executives bring with them extensive experience of working in the medical technology business, thanks to spells with companies such as Medtronic and Alere.

Their appointments will aid Systagenix at a time when the company is preparing to expand its offerings and operations by entering the field of wound diagnostics for the first time.

Ernest Waaser, CEO of Systagenix, said: "Both have expertise that will be of great value as we bring new systems of diagnostics and targeted therapies to the global wound care market."

This comes after Joe Woody, president of Covidien's vascular therapies division, became part of the Systagenix board of directors earlier this year.
