Systagenix launches wound care e-learning programme

Systagenix has announced the launch of a new wound care educational e-learning programme that will be made available online.

Organised by the Welsh Wound Innovation Centre in cooperation with Commelius Solutions, the scheme is aimed at qualified medical professionals entering the field of wound care, as well as experienced specialist nurses.

The first module, entitled Fundamental Knowledge for Wound Care, is awarded one European CME credit by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. Each component will cover topics such as anatomy and physiology, evidenced-based medicine, and wound assessment, classification and management.

Peter Huntley, Systagenix's senior vice-president, said: "We are proud to sponsor the development and launch of this new education programme and believe it will deliver significant value to wound care clinicians worldwide."

This comes after the firm – which was acquired by KCI at the end of last year – launched its new product Biosorb, a new type of hydroactive dressing for wounds, in the UK and Germany in May 2014.
