Takeda licenses software system for drug discovery
Takeda has augmented its drug discovery capabilities after licensing a software solutions package from specialist technology firm Ariadne.
The pharmaceutical company’s Takeda San Francisco division, which is the global centre for excellence for biologics, has agreed a deal to use Ariadne’s Pathway Studio software in its research.
According to Ariadne, the software provides data mining and visualisation capabilities which let users easily analyse information from large databases while conducting experiments.
It will be used by Takeda as part of its discovery initiatives in the fields of cancer, inflammatory and metabolic disease.
Gabriella Armin, director of marketing for Ariadne, said: “Our solutions for the pharmaceutical discovery pipeline are proven and we believe this research can enable the ongoing development of novel product candidates for therapeutic use.”
Earlier this month, Takeda successfully applied for EU authorisation for a new drug called Feraheme, an iron deficiency anaemia treatment indicated for chronic kidney disease patients.
