Tango Therapeutics Initiates Clinical Trial for Their Novel Cancer Therapeutic

In September last year, Tango got approval from the US FDA for their experimental new drug labelled TNG348. TNG348 was created to stop an enzyme called USP1, which helps certain cancer cells survive and grow.   

In an early-stage study, Tango Therapeutics has administered their first participant a dose of their new drug, looking into the effects of the medication on USP1.  

The study will check how safe and well-tolerated TNG348 is, both on its own and when used together with AstraZeneca’s Lynparza. The focus is on patients with BRCA1/2 mutant or HRD+ solid tumours, and the study will also look at how effective it is against tumours.  

Jens Lindberg, the leading executive of Medivir, commented, “The preclinical data generated by Tango for TNG348 is promising and dosing the first patient in a clinical study is encouraging for patients with HRD+ cancers.”  

Lindberg went on to add, “The efforts undertaken by Tango to develop TNG348 into a clinical-staged drug are impressive and we will continue to follow the clinical development of TNG348 with great anticipation.”
