Tecan achieves key goals during 2013 business year
Tecan has announced its financial results for the 2013 full-year period, during which it generated a sales total of 388.3 million Swiss francs (266.95 million pounds).
This represented a 0.1 percent year-on-year increase in local currency terms. Order entries rose to 386.1 million francs, while operating profit grew healthily to 54.8 million francs and net profit surged 7.8 percent to 45.7 million francs.
During the year, the company saw solid growth in its partnering business, which helped to partly offset a decline in instrument sales in established markets in the life sciences division. Its consumables performance also improved and its market presence in China expanded.
The firm was also able to achieve several key strategic goals, such as the conclusion of its instrument development programme with Dako Omnis, good progress in other development programmes and the strengthening of its management structure.
Tecan chief executive officer David Martyr said: "The growth drivers for Tecan's medium-term goals remain intact, with the expectation of a more significant growth step in 2015."
A leading global provider of laboratory instruments and solutions in biopharmaceuticals, forensics and clinical diagnostics, Tecan was founded in 1980 and maintains a sales and service network spanning 52 countries.
