Tecan selects new chief scientific officer
Tecan has announced that Dr Martin Brusdeilins is to become its new chief scientific officer on September 1st 2011.
Dr Brusdeilins will lead the company's newly created science and technology organisational unit and will also become a member of the group's management board, playing a key role in implementing its growth strategies.
He has extensive experience in the diagnostic and life sciences industry, having previously worked for companies such as Roche and the Johnson and Johnson subsidiary Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, where he served as vice-president for product development.
Tecan chief executive officer Thomas Bachmann said Dr Brusdeilins' expertise will be crucial in shaping the company's future development.
"By bundling our knowledge resources, we aim to further strengthen the focus on integrated workflow solutions and speed up the pace of innovation," he added.
In May 2011, Tecan agreed a major new original equipment manufacturing (OEM) deal with an unnamed diagnostics firm, which it describes as one its "most significant" OEM agreements to date.
