Teva receives Silver Quality Mark for workplace giving

Teva has been presented with a Silver Quality Mark from the British government via the Workplace Giving UK programme.

The company received the award in recognition of its charitable donations, with a specific focus on the uptake of a payroll giving scheme among the company's employees. Through this project, Teva UK staff raise more than 8,000 pounds a year for various charities.

Launched in 2010, it gives employees the opportunity to contribute part of their salary tax-free to their chosen charities, which receive both the donated amount and the tax that would have been paid on the sum.

A prestigious symbol of excellence, the Silver Quality Mark is awarded to employers that have succeeded in generating substantial income sources for UK charities through workplace initiatives.

Lynda Wilebore, Teva's human resources director, said: "Fostering a culture of philanthropy is important to us as an organisation and it's great to see that so many employees are getting involved and making a difference to a wide range of good causes."

In October 2013, the firm was named as the UK's generics manufacturer of the year for an unprecedented 11th consecutive year at the annual Pharmacy Business Awards.
