Teva to launch new PolyHeal wound care offering
Teva has introduced PolyHeal, a new product designed and clinically proven to offer benefits for sufferers of hard-to-heal wounds.
The new offering incorporates negatively-charged polystyrene microspheres suspended in a nutrient medium to activate the inflammatory and proliferation phases of healing, providing significant wound size reduction after a month of therapy.
PolyHeal was introduced by Teva at the Wounds UK conference and represents the NHS supplier's first entry in the wound care sector.
It is to be made available from wholesalers in January 2011 and is expected to assist in addressing the unmet medical need for new treatment options for chronic wounds.
Teva's primary and secondary care director Robyn Hughes said: "We're delighted to bring this exciting new product to the UK market and believe it will make a real difference to patients suffering from hard-to-heal wounds."
Earlier this month, Teva expanded its business via a deal to acquire the women's health business Theramex from Merck Serono.
