Teva UK launches new generic hypertension therapy
Teva UK has announced the addition of a new tablet therapy for essential hypertension to its portfolio of generic medicines.
Telmisartan/HCTZ tablets are an off-label version of MicardisPlus, a branded blood pressure drug from Boehringer Ingelheim. They are available in strengths of 80mg/12.5mg and 80mg/25mg, with each pack including 28 tablets.
Available to order immediately, the products will further expand the company's product range, which have made it one of the top ten pharmaceutical manufacturers operating in the UK.
Paul Burden, interim commercial director at Teva UK, said: "We are delighted to be able to add telmisartan/HCTZ tablets to our portfolio and to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to pharmacy."
This comes after the firm introduced a new 2.5mg variant of another treatment for essential hypertension, nebivolol, last month.
It represented a market first, as there is no brand equivalent to this strength of the drug, which is based on the Menarini Farmaceutica Internazionale product Nebilet.
