The Body Shop launches safe sex campaign
The Body Shop has launched a website to promote safe sexual relationships in the under-25s.
An interactive website has been set up by the company in collaboration with MTV to encourage young adults to make a pledge and use protection to shield themselves from HIV and Aids.
Consumers are also able to purchase Tantalising Lip Butter, costing £5, from the retailer’s range and £3.98 of the recommended retail price will be donated to the Staying Alive Foundation, which supports the cause.
Shelley Simmons from the Body Shop explained that many individuals do not see their own behaviour to be part of the fight against the disease.
“By talking to them directly about safe sex in the online space we hope to show them that protecting themselves is the first and critical step in the fight against HIV [and] aids,” she commented.
There will also be an application launched on the social networking site Facebook to provide a platform for people to encourage friends to use protection.
Founded in 1976, the Body Shop now has over 2,400 stores in 61 countries worldwide.
