The RPS has elected 16 new board members to the National Pharmacy Boards in the Society’s 2021 elections

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has elected sixteen new board members to the National Pharmacy Boards in the Society’s 2021 elections. The attendance for the elections grew from 11.5% seen in 2019 to 13.1%.

The largest turnout, across the UK, was in Wales with 21.4%, followed by Scotland with 20.7% and England with 11.8%.

Thorrun Govind was re-elected, as was Chair Claire Anderson and Vice-Chair Martin Astbury. In addition, Michal Maguire, Mary Evans, Ciara Marie Duffy, Erutase Oputu, Paul Summerfield and Alisdair Jones were also re-elected.

In Wales, Richard Evans was re-elected, as was Vice-Chair Cheryl Way. In addition, Dylan Lloyd, current board member, was elected unopposed. Accompanying them are Elanor Thomas and Helen Davies, who was elected to Primary Care and the Any Sector posts.

Eleri Schiavone and Gareth Hughes were elected unopposed to the Community Practice – unspecified and hospital posts. The second Hospital post was unfilled.

Tamara Cairney and Andrew Carruthers were re-elected, in Scotland, with Jacqueline Sneddon, Audrey Thompson, Catriona Sinclair, William (Iain) Bishop, Omolola (Lola) Dabiri and Lucy Dixon.

Chief Executive, RPS, Paul Bennett, stated: “I’m very encouraged to see an increase in voter turnout from eleven-point-forty-seven per cent in 2019 to thirteen-point-one per cent this year across Great Britain. We are delighted to welcome our new Board members and excited to shortly begin work with them, championing the profession to put pharmacy at the forefront of healthcare.”
