Thermo Fisher Scientific achieves revenue record in first quarter
Thermo Fisher Scientific has achieved a record-breaking quarterly result in the first three months of 2010, posting a revenue total of $2.7 billion (1.8 billion pounds).
This figure was up by 19 per cent compared to the $2.3 billion figure recorded in the first quarter of last year, with both the analytical technologies and laboratory products and services units of the company seeing double-digit growth.
It attributed this benchmark-setting performance to the introduction of new Thermo Fisher Scientific products in the last quarter, as well as the success of its cost management activities.
Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher Scientific, also pointed to the acquisitions of Ahura Scientific, Finnzymes and Proxeon as moves which will support long-term growth.
He added: “It’s clear that we have emerged from the recession a stronger industry leader as a result of the actions we took in 2009.”
Last month, it was announced that the company has provided laboratory information technology to fellow science firm Symyx for use in its Notebook gas chromatography monitoring system.
