Thermo Fisher Scientific completes acquisition of Brahms AG

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced that its acquisition of Brahms AG has been executed.

The firm paid 330 million euros (305 million pounds) for Brahms AG, which generated revenues of 75 million euros last year.

Integration of the organisation will include the absorption of Brahms’ analytical technologies operations and the use of the firm’s former headquarters in Hennigsdorf as the European Center of Excellence for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s clinical diagnostics business.

Brahms AG is best recognised for devising the Procalcitonin test, its specialist services in the area on in-vitro diagnostic tests based on patented biomarkers for sepsis, expertise in cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases and dedication to intensive care treatments and pre-natal screening.

Last month, Thermo Fisher Scientific appointed a new president and chief executive officer, Marc Casper, who is set to assume his new post on October 15th 2009.

He takes over from Marijn Dekkers, who recently announced his resignation.
