Thermo Fisher Scientific completes One Lambda takeover
Thermo Fisher Scientific has completed the acquisition of One Lambda, which has become part of the company's specialty diagnostics segment.
A leading transplant diagnostics specialist based in California, One Lambda employs around 320 people and generated revenues of $182 million (111.95 million pounds) in 2011.
The $925 million acquisition deal was announced in July 2012 and will expand Thermo Fisher's access to an attractive market, as well as providing numerous opportunities to help improve the lives of transplant patients.
One Lambda's portfolio includes a range of diagnostic tests for use in determining the compatibility of donors and recipients pre-transplant, as well as for the detection of antibodies that can lead to transplant rejection.
Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "One Lambda's tests for tissue typing and antibody detection complement our existing immunosuppressant assays, allowing us to offer a broad menu of tests across the transplant-testing workflow."
The purchase price includes the cost of One Lambda's three-year employee retention programme, amounts payable to certain shareholders for non-competition agreements and certain other fees.
