Thermo Fisher Scientific expands mass spectrometry portfolio

Thermo Fisher Scientific has expanded its line of mass spectrometers as well as other new research and discovery solutions.

The new additions currently being unveiled at the American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) Conference in Indianapolis.

It is hoped that the new introductions will reflect Thermo Fisher Scientific’s commitment to delivering innovative mass spectrometry technologies to laboratories.

Among the products unveiled are the LTQ Orbitrap XL, which aims to deliver higher performance for protein identification and biomarker discovery.

Dr Ian Jardine, vice president of global research and development for Thermo Fisher Scientific, commented: "We continue to deliver powerful new workflow tools for our customers in the laboratory."

"We’re bringing together our best-in-class instrumentation, software and reagents to meet the needs of researchers across many disciplines," he added.

Dr Jardine continued that the company is incorporating new technologies like ETD and FAIMS, into a range of Thermo Fisher Scientific mass spectrometry systems to make the innovations accessible to more scientists.

Thermo Fisher Scientific employs about 30,000 people and serves 350,000 customers in pharmaceutical and biotech companies among other institutions.
