Thermo Fisher Scientific forms new Immuno-Oncology Consortium

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the formation of a new European Immuno-Oncology Consortium.

Led in collaboration with Dr Sabine Merkelbach-Bruse from the University of Cologne's Institute of Pathology, the consortium will bring together clinical researchers from renowned institutions across Europe to drive innovations in immunotherapy research.

Founding members will include academics from University Hospital Heidelberg, Technical University Munich, Hospital del Mar in Barcelona and the Erasmus MC Cancer Institute in Rotterdam, among other institutions.

The consortium's work will initially focus on efforts to validate Thermo Fisher's previously launched Oncomine Immune Response Research Assay, with the aim of extending the scope of current research to include tumour mutational burden studies.

It is hoped that the consortium model will aid the analytical validation of new assays and efforts to explore how these assays may assist patient stratification for immunotherapies in future.
