Thermo Fisher Scientific introduces protein quantitation kit

Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched a new SILAC Protein Quantitation Kit for the identification, characterisation and quantitation of proteins.

The kits will allow for isotopic labelling of proteome for analysis of protein abundance by mass spectrometry.

It is hoped the device will provide an "all-in-one solution" for researchers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Thermo Fisher Scientific states the kits work by allowing quantitation of protein expression levels between differentially treated cell populations.

It continues that the kits are compatible for use with mammalian cell lines and when used with its protein/peptide sample enrichment products, it allows for MS analysis of low-abundance, cell-surface and organelle-specific proteins.

Thermo Fisher Scientific employs 30,000 people and serves more than 350,000 customers in pharmaceutical and biotech companies, hospitals, labs and universities.

It also recently announced that it will be presenting at the Bank of America 2007 Health Care Conference held at Las Vegas.
