Thermo Fisher Scientific launches Attune NxT Acoustic Focusing Cytometer
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of its new Attune NxT Acoustic Focusing Cytometer, which will be sold under its Life Technologies brand.
The next-generation flow cytometer incorporates a modular design that allows users to benefit from greater flexibility in a wide variety of life science applications, ranging from biomarker discovery to cancer research.
Its proprietary acoustic focusing technology is able to increase detection sensitivity and throughput, and it can be easily configured to run with one to four lasers, allowing it to detect up to 14 colours in a sample.
Professor David Cousins of the University of Leicester praised the device for the reduced number of centrifugation steps associated with the device, allowing for a greater retention of cells and quicker detection of rare events.
Brett Williams, vice-president and general manager for cell analysis at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "Our goal is to make these advanced technologies accessible to all customers, independent of funding or experience levels, so they can be applied in new ways to help accelerate research and discovery."
The Life Technologies business has been part of Thermo Fisher Scientific since the completion of a multibillion-dollar takeover last year.
