Thermo Fisher Scientific launches efficient new lab freezer

7th May 2015

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of a new ultra-low temperature freezer that offers a high level of sustainability and sample protection benefits.

The Thermo Scientific TSX freezer features natural refrigerants for lower environmental impact and higher cooling efficiency, while reducing energy use by up to 50 percent compared to conventional refrigerant ultra-low freezers.

Optimised for use in laboratories and biorepositories, it is the only freezer of its kind equipped with V-Drive technology, which is designed to operate at a low speed to reduce energy consumption and maintain a uniform temperature in stable conditions, while adjusting speeds upward when dealing with frequent door openings.

Chris Champlin, vice-president and general manager for controlled temperature technologies at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "Now, labs and biorepositories can not only reap the benefits of significant energy savings, but also feel confident that their samples are in an environment designed for their protection."

The firm also introduced its Thermo Scientific XBF40D blast freezer, for the rapid freezing of critical bioprocessing samples, last month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801786632-ADNFCR
