Thermo Fisher Scientific launches new running buffer for protein separations

6th May 2016

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of a new running buffer for the gradient-like electrophoretic separations of protein samples.

The Fisher BioReagents FastRun Tris SDS PAGE Running Buffer is designed for use at higher voltages than traditional buffers and can therefore provide clear results much more quickly and with a broad molecular weight separation range.

It has been shown to provide comparable or better resolution than traditional Tris-Glycine-SDS buffers, while reducing the number of Tris-Glycine polyacrylamide gel compositions required to resolve a protein, saving researchers time and money.

In a test, gels run with the new buffer system took only 25 minutes, compared to the 90-minute run times associated with traditional reagents.

The buffer is compatible with standard Tris-Glycine polyacrylamide gels, both precast and home-made, with all commercially available protein electrophoresis tanks.

Dr Stephen Roemer, director of product development at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "The new Fisher BioReagents FastRun Tris SDS PAGE Running Buffer is the first major breakthrough in this space in decades because of its ability to be used at higher voltages."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801818001-ADNFCR
