Thermo Fisher Scientific names new advisory board members

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the appointment of two new members of its board of its scientific advisory board.

Dr Klaus Lindpaintner, the firm's recently-appointed chief scientific officer for analytical technologies, has become an internal member of the board and will be tasked with assessing how the company's portfolio can be best used to meet the needs of the global life sciences industry.

Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher, said the appointment will help the company to find "new opportunities to leverage our unique depth of capabilities in analytical technologies, ensuring a homogenous approach to our research and development efforts and raising Thermo Fisher's profile as the innovation leader in our industry".

Meanwhile, Dr Edison Liu has been selected as the seventh outside member of the board, allowing the company to benefit from his expertise in the field of cancer research.

He is the current president and chief executive officer of the Jackson Laboratory research laboratory, which is dedicated to studying cures for disease.

Thermo Fisher Scientific is currently enjoying a strong business year, having announced last month that its third-quarter financial performance was marked by record earnings and revenues.
