Thermo Fisher Scientific reports record performance in Q3 2013
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2013, during which it achieved a record revenue total of $3.19 billion (1.99 billion pounds).
This represented a year-on-year increase of three percent, while its adjusted earnings per share total rose by nine percent to a new third-quarter benchmark of $1.30.
Its recently-launched mass spectrometry systems and newly-introduced portable analyser products have been noted as particular drivers of growth, while the firm has also strengthened its presence in rapidly-expanding emerging markets such as Asia Pacific.
Additionally, significant progress has been made on the integration of Life Technologies since the agreement of a $13.6 billion acquisition deal earlier this year.
Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "We're excited about the tremendous value this transaction will create for our customers, employees and shareholders, and remain on track to close early in 2014."
This merger is designed to give the combined company an unrivaled leadership position in serving the research, specialty diagnostics and applied markets.
