Thermo Fisher Scientific showcases microplate system
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced it has showcased its latest microplate mover system at an event in Lille, France.
The company chose the Society of Biomolecular Sciences 15th annual conference – which runs until tomorrow (April 30th) – to allow visitors to view its Orbitor RS device.
It is claimed the new system, which utilises technology from Thermo Fisher Scientific’s RapidStak and Dimension4 product lines, can provide "proven, reliable performance with totally flexible plate handling".
Equipped with extending vertical reach, the Orbitor RS is capable of stacking a number of high density instruments and the systems bi-directional telescoping arm gives "superior reach, improved user safety and unlimited base rotations within a 360-degree workspace".
The unit is compatible with any SBS plate format – whether shallow to deep well – and can also be used with various types of tubing, box, lids and rack.
It was also announced this week that the manufacturer would acquire Biolab in order to strengthen its presence in Australasia.
