Thermo Fisher Scientific to distribute Electron Backscatter Diffraction Systems

17th September 2007

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced a deal with Edax to distribute the company’s Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBBD) systems.

Making use of Edax’s Orientation Imaging Microscopy (OIM) technology, the EBSD systems will add inimitable capabilities to Thermo Fisher Scientific’s current microanalysis offerings, reports the company.

David Rohde, x-ray microanalysis product manager for Thermo Fisher Scientific, commented: "OIM is the perfect complement to the Noran System Six advanced X-ray microanalysis system.

"By offering both the Noran System Six and EBSD, Thermo Fisher enables scientists to determine both the elemental and structural composition of a variety of materials."

Product marketing manager for Edax Del Redfern added that the company was pleased to provide Thermo Fisher Scientific consumers with the chance to extend their analytical potential to include structural testing via the OIM EBSD system.

It was recently reported that Thermo Fisher Scientific published a new technical poster demonstrating the reduction of matrix effects in LC-MS/MS analysis for drug development.
