Thermo Fisher Scientific’s LTQ Orbitrap utilised for proteomics research

Thermo Fisher Scientific’s LTQ Orbitrap linear ion trap mass spectrometer has been selected by the Institut de Recherches Cliniques de Montreal (IRCM) for use in a new proteomics research approach.

It is hoped that the award-winning product could have an impact on the understanding of the human proteome and it will play a significant role in IRCM’s systematic analysis of human protein interaction networks, which has significant implications in the prevention and treatment of disease.

IRCM’s research primarily focuses upon proteomics and Thermo Fisher Scientific’s spectrometer will help support a project to create a road-map for these proteins.

Defining the maps of protein interactions that regulate cell growth, differentiation and disease progression is the ultimate goal of this Human Proteotheque Initiative (HuPI).
