Thermo Scientific introduces x-ray analyser

26th July 2007

Thermo Scientific has announced the release of a new x-ray analyser.

Both x-ray diffraction (XRD) and x-ray fluorescence may be conducted on the same sample by using the ARL 9900 X-ray WorkStation, the company claims.

Development of the product was inspired by a need for adequate XRD equipment in the cement industry, Thermo Scientific adds.

"The company has made yet another quantum leap in the area of x-ray analysis for the cement industry," the firm states.

"There has been a growing demand in the cement industry for a complete range of XRD instrumentation, with an increasing need for full phase identification."

Analyses carried out using the equipment may identify levels of free lime and periclase in clinkers, as well as quantifying quartz in clay minerals, according to the manufacturer.

Models of the product are available with power ratings of 1.2 kW, 3.6 kW and 4.2 kW to suit a range of requirements, Thermo Fisher explains.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18224521-ADNFCR
