Thermo Scientific to supply doping tests at 2008 Beijing Olympics
Thermo Scientific has announced its selection by the China Doping Control Centre (CCDC) to provide instruments and software for its sports testing programme at the Olympic Games in Bejing.
The world leader in serving science, Thermo Scientific has pointed out that the analytical systems it has supplied are ideally suited to meet the challenge of identifying the increasingly sophisticated drugs used in sports competitions.
Providing the necessary high specificity, low limits of detection, high throughput and reliability required in the current sports testing environment, the company is confident that its instruments are suited to the illegal performance-enhancing substances that have become more difficult to detect.
"Support for the Olympics embodies our corporate commitment to make the world cleaner, safer and healthier," commented Lew Rosenblum, president of Thermo Fisher Scientific China.
"We have great confidence that with the CDCC’s analytical expertise and Thermo Scientific instrument, software and consumables solutions, the doping control testing program for this year’s Olympics will be successful," he added.
Included in the range of high-precision instruments supplied by Thermo Fisher for the 2008 Games are two DFS Sector Field GC/MS systems, a DELTA V isotope ratio mass spectrometre and four triple-quadruple TSQ Quantum Access LC/MS systems.
