TTP Labtech provides drug discovery tech for Nottingham University

TTP Labtech has highlighted the key role its comPOUND sample storage system and comPILER tube-to-plate processing system will play in a new drug discovery venture at the University of Nottingham.

The life science firm's innovative devices are being implemented at the fully automated state-of-the-art facility for the Managed Chemical Compound Collection (MCCC), which stores more than 100,000 diverse drug-like small molecules.

Using the modular comPOUND system, chemical and biological compound libraries can be stored and dispensed in a compact and secure manner, maintaining the samples in a temperature-controlled, dry, inert and hermetically-sealed environment.

The MCCC allows the university to carry out drug discovery research and provide services to pharmaceutical and biotech industry partners.

Simon Tullett, product manager for comPOUND and compiler at TTP Labtech, said: "We are delighted to be supporting a venture such as the MCCC. Our systems readily integrated with the existing lab setup and have been operational for a year."

Earlier this summer, the company attended the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening's Asian conference in Shanghai, where it demonstrated newer products such as Mirrorball and Acumen eX3.
