UCB Pharmaceuticals’ Cimzia packaging wins award

12th August 2009

UCB Pharmaceuticals has revealed that its Cimzia (certolizumab pegol) packaging has won an accolade at the Red Dot Awards.

The international Red Dot Communication Design award, which takes into account product and communication design, was bestowed upon UCB and its design partner OXO Good Grips for Cimzia premium packaging components.

“For Cimzia in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), UCB developed premium packaging components that shift the paradigm of pharmaceutical packaging by designing for the consumer first,” stated Roch Doliveux, chief executive of UCB.

By taking a patient-centric approach and working closely with the needs of RA sufferers, the firms were able to devise the innovative pharmaceutical packaging, he added.

The Red Dot Awards received over 11,000 submissions from more than 60 countries this year, as companies battled it out for the prestigious red dot seal of quality.
