UCB shares data on epilepsy research at ECE 2014

UCB has shared new clinical data on epilepsy at this year's European Congress on Epileptology (ECE) in Sweden.

The event, which began yesterday (June 29th) and runs until July 3rd, is the 11th of its kind and will feature ten presentations sponsored by UCB, a Belgium-based pharmaceutical firm that focuses on treatments for people with severe diseases affecting the immune system and central nervous system.

One event will focus on new data looking at the use of VIMPAT as a form of early adjunctive therapy for treating patients with partial-onset seizures and chief medical officer and executive vice-president at UCB Professor Dr Iris Loew Friedrich said the presentations "highlight the latest clinical findings and real world data" on the effectiveness of VIMPAT.

The findings go a long way to "demonstrating our commitment to addressing the unmet needs of people with epilepsy," she added.

UCB's presence at the ECE comes just weeks after it sponsored 24 data presentations across a wide range of rheumatic diseases at the 2014 European League Against Rheumatism in Paris on June 11th-14th.
