UK Council for Psychotherapy names new comms head

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) has appointed the experienced media professional Graham Prince as its new head of communications.

Mr Prince, the former comms director at renewable energy firm D1 Oils, has been hired to help strengthen the organisation's media presence, while raising public awareness of the value of psychotherapy in modern society, reports PRWeek.

His work will include the development and improvement of member services, as well as collaboration with UKCP's public affairs manager to ensure the council is able to exert influence on the government and NHS bodies.

Prior to joining D1 Oils, Mr Prince held comms roles at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Mitsubishi, and Gavin Anderson and Company.

David Pink, UKCP chief executive, said: "Graham has the broad strategic experience in communications, media and public affairs that will further strengthen the professionalism of our executive team."

UKCP's membership includes more than 7,800 individual therapists and in excess of 70 training and accreditation bodies.
