Unilever announces change of chief financial officer

Unilever has named Graeme Pitkethly as its new chief financial officer (CFO), succeeding Jean-Marc Huet as of October 1st 2015.

Mr Huet has decided to step down from this role and his position on the company board, having played a key role in strengthening Unilever's finances since joining in 2010. He will remain as CFO until October to ensure a smooth transition.

His successor has been with Unilever since 2002 and currently serves as executive vice-president of Unilever's UK and Ireland business. 

Mr Pitkethly brings considerable internal and external experience to the role, having spent the earlier part of his career in senior corporate finance roles both at Unilever and other companies.

Paul Polman, chief executive of Unilever, said: "His broad financial experience, deep operating knowledge and track record in both business and people development make him an ideal addition."

The company is currently in a strong financial position, having achieved a 12.3 percent year-on-year turnover increase in the first quarter of 2015.
