Unilever announces global partnership with Save the Children

18th September 2012

Unilever has entered into a new partnership with charity group Save the Children, which aims to positively impact millions of lives around the world.

The multinational business has made a three-year commitment worth 15 million euros (12.06 million pounds) in support of Save the Children's biggest ever global campaign, Every One, which aims to eradicate mortality among children and mothers.

It will improve access to health workers and life-saving vaccines, and rally public and political support for greater action in this area, with China, Bangladesh, Kenya and Nigeria to be the key areas of focus.

Additionally, Unilever and Save the Children are partnering with the China Development Research Foundation to jointly carry out a Village Early Education Center project in Sichuan province.

Paul Polman, Unilever's chief executive officer, said: "We have an ambition to double the size of our business whilst reducing our environmental footprint and increasing our social impact."

In July 2012, the company announced its financial results for the first half of the year, during which its turnover rose by 11.5 percent year over year to 25.4 billion euros.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801451453-ADNFCR
