Unilever announces Ren Skincare takeover
Unilever has announced the acquisition of Ren Skincare, the iconic British company founded in 2000 by Antony Buck and Robert Calcraft.
The company will pay an undisclosed fee to take control of Ren Skincare, with the deal expected to close in May. It will become the latest addition to Unilever's diverse range of personal care brands.
A multi-award winning company, Ren Skincare sells its products in 50 countries and has built a dedicated consumer base. The product range is sold predominantly in specialty stores and pharmacies.
Built around the principles of effectiveness, naturalness and pleasurable experience, the products will now be able to reach a wider global audience thanks to Unilever's broad infrastructure.
Vasiliki Petrou, Unilever's senior vice-president of prestige brands, said: "It is a brand with an incredibly loyal following, with a unique proposition that no doubt gives it potential for even further growth, especially given that the naturals category is one of the fastest growing in skincare globally."
This comes after the firm launched a new crowdsourcing initiative last week to drive its sustainable growth ambition in the medium to long term.
