Veterinary Nurses Council celebrates 10th anniversary

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Veterinary Nurses Council (VNC) has marked its tenth birthday this week (October 9th).

Since it was founded, the VNC has been working in the interests of the public and animals by supporting these practitioners, helping to build the reputations of these professionals as accountable members of the veterinary team.

In its tenth year alone, the organisation achieved significant milestones, with veterinary nurses making their first official declarations upon registration in 2012.

This was introduced through the new Code of Professional Conduct for Veterinary Nurses, which was drawn up in agreements with the VNC.

And last year, the VNC set up a new disciplinary process for registered veterinary nurses, signifying the willingness of these professionals to accept their accountability.

"This has been a significant journey over a relatively short period of time and is all credit to the VNC over the past ten years," stated VNC chairman Kathy Kissick.
