Vetoquinol launches injectable cattle treatment Forcyl

Vetoquinol has unveiled Forcyl, a new injectable treatment of respiratory infections in cattle.

The Buckingham-based animal health company's new product is a patented 16 percent marbofloxacin solution that has been registered as a single intramuscular injection.

It uses the single injection short-acting antibiotic concept, minimising the risk of antibiotic resistance developing among cattle with an optimised dosage.

According to the firm, the treatment also demands a lower volume of administration due to its innovative formulation, with just 10 ml for 160 kg of body weight required.

Vetoquinol said Forcyl offers additional benefits such as good injection site tolerance and short withdrawal periods.

The new product follows the recent launch of Cimalgex, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory canine drug that was unveiled by the company in October.

Cimalgex is licensed for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis in dogs, as well as the management of peri-operative pain due to orthopaedic or soft tissue surgery.
