Vivasure Successfully Treats Patient with New Vessel Closure System in Recent Study
Ella Jackson
VivaMedical, a medical device company that focuses on polymer implants, has successfully operated on their first patient using their vessel closure device, PerQseal® Elite, during a minimally invasive surgery.
The trial took place at Erasmus University Hospital in the Netherlands.
The vessel closure technology is designed to assist in large-hole vein operations, chest cavity blood vessel dilation treatment, and heart support systems.
For these operations, a wide arterial entry point is necessary, typically closed using stitches or appliances made of collagen. Vivasure comments that these standard methods may be responsible for issues related to blood vessels.
Professor Nicolas Van Mieghem, the leading researcher, added, “Fast and precise vessel closure is a crucial, final component of large-bore arterial access procedures.”
Andrew Glass, head executive at Vivasure, commented, “We’re looking forward to gathering data about the latest generation of the PerQseal system as we continue to innovate and add to our product pipeline.”
