Waters acquires VTI

13th August 2008

Waters Corporation has completed the purchase of the net assets of VTI Corporation of Hialeah for an undisclosed amount.

Following the acquisition, the firm will immediately merge the business into its TA Instruments Division.

VTI is a manufacturer of sorption analysis and thermogravimetric analysis instruments widely used in the evaluation of pharmaceuticals, catalysts, and energy-related materials.

Waters claim VTI’s founder, Doctor Augie Venero, is a pioneer in the field of sorption studies and will join TA Instruments.

Terry Kelly, President of TA, said: "The addition of VTI further strengthens TA Instruments’ industry-leading position in thermal analysis while expanding TA Instruments’ exposure into the rapidly-growing pharmaceutical and energy markets."

In other news, Waters published a rapid screening method for 402 pesticide residues in food last month.

Earlier in the year, the firm unveiled a new customer showcase celebrating their clients’ achievements through the business’ products.

Art Caputo, executive vice president of the organisation, said: "It is rewarding to know that what we do at Waters makes a difference in helping to solve some of the world’s most important scientific challenges.
