Waters receives CE Mark for MassTrak vitamin D solution
Waters' fully-validated MassTrak vitamin D solution has received European CE Mark approval for use as an in vitro diagnostic tool.
Designed for the quantitative measurement of 25(OH) D2 and D3 (25-OH-VitD) from human plasma and serum, the solution consists of reagents and consumables, instrumentation and software and support services for clinical laboratories that routinely measure vitamin D levels.
It is the first single-vendor system capable of measuring both vitamins 25(OH) D2 and D3 independently and accurately from human plasma and serum in a single analysis, and is designed for use with Waters' Acquity UPLC I-Class and Xevo TQD IVD systems, MassTrak vitamin D kit and MassLynx mass spectrometry software.
Dr Jose Castro-Perez, director of health sciences and global marketing operations at Waters, said: "It's the ideal solution for clinical laboratories performing (25-OH-VitD) analysis on a routine basis and which may want to standardise (25-OH-VitD) analysis on a single-vendor platform."
Vitamin D plays a key role in preserving bone strength, while it also plays a role in modulating cell growth, the function of neuromuscular and immune systems, and reducing inflammation. As such, monitoring vitamin D levels is an essential element of human health management.
