Waters wins Pittcon innovation award for Acquity QDa

Waters has been handed an innovation award from the organisers of the 2014 Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy for the new Acquity QDa Detector.

The device has claimed the Pittcon Editors' silver award for the most innovative product introduced at the event. It is the first mass detector to bring high-quality, mass spectral data to chromatographic separations.

Designed as a synergistic component of a chromatographic system, the Acquity QDa Detector is compatible with a wide variety of former Waters products and represents the culmination of 20 years of development work.

Its combination of chromatography and mass spectrometry technologies gives all analytical scientists access to mass spectral data, regardless of their previous experience with mass spectrometry.

Art Caputo, president of Waters, said: "This marks the fourth time in the last ten years that the editors have recognised a new Waters technology reinforcing our innovation leadership role."

This comes after the firm celebrated the ten-year anniversary of its Acquity UltraPerformance Liquid Chromatography system last week.
