Welch Allyn acquires product assets from Scale-Tronix
Welch Allyn has announced the acquisition of Scale-Tronix, a leading manufacturer of medical scales and patient weighing systems.
Based in New York, the company makes a comprehensive range of patient scales and weighing systems for various medical applications, having introduced its Model 2001 SlingScale system back in the mid-1970s.
The firm employs more than 30 members of staff at its White Plains headquarters and manufacturing site in Illinois, all of whom will be retained by Welch Allyn, which states that the takeover will not affect the current Scale-Tronix business operations.
It is expected that this deal will give Welch Allyn an opportunity to provide a variety of clinical-grade scales to better serve its hospital and physician customers.
Jon Soderberg, executive vice-president and chief corporate development officer at Welch Allyn, said: "This acquisition will allow us to offer a new set of critical physical assessment tools that can help providers make more informed decisions about how they care for their patients."
Welch Allyn is a leading global manufacturer of medical diagnostic equipment, with nearly 2,600 employees working in 26 different countries.
