Welch Allyn and Spok agree patient monitoring technology collaboration

12th February 2015

Welch Allyn has agreed a new partnership with healthcare software development company Spok that will bring mobile compatibility to its patient monitoring systems.

The companies will work together to enable the delivery of critical patient monitoring data from Welch Allyn Connex Vital Signs Monitors to mobile devices including smartphones, pagers, wi-fi phones and more.

When deployed as part of Welch Allyn's Connex Clinical Surveillance System, this will make it easier for clinicians to proactively view patient status 24/7, thus allowing them to respond earlier to patient deterioration.

Staff will be able to receive alarms and updates, filtered to specific devices and individuals where appropriate, meaning users will only receive information that is relevant to them.

Doug Linquest, senior vice-president for vital signs and cardiology at Welch Allyn, said: "By utilising Spok solutions to establish connectivity between Welch Allyn devices and mobile devices, we can help our customers meet the needs of clinicians and their patients in a very efficient way."

Earlier this month, the firm announced a partnership with Nonin Medical, a manufacturer of noninvasive medical monitoring solutions, to distribute its clinically-proven PureSAT SpO2 technology.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801775098-ADNFCR
