Welch Allyn makes changes to executive leadership

Welch Allyn has announced the appointment of Scott Gucciardi and Karen Hendricks to executive vice-president (EVP) roles at the company.

Mr Gucciardi has been named EVP and chief marketing officer while Ms Hendricks has been appointed as EVP and chief new product development and technology officer, both reporting to president and chief executive officer Julie Shimer.

In his new role, former EVP for new product development Mr Gucciardi will lead global marketing functions and will help to produce customer insight that will drive future product strategy.

Meanwhile, Ms Hendricks – previously Welch Allyn's EVP for technology and innovation – will lead the execution of research into new sensors, hardware and software, as well as the integration of third-party partners.

Ms Shimer said: "The skills and experience of Scott and Karen will position Welch Allyn to move forward as a global company focused on solving problems facing healthcare providers in today's … healthcare system."

This comes shortly after the announcement that Ms Shimer will be retiring from Welch Allyn at the end of the year.
